Preparation of Homemade Wax
Preparation of Homemade Wax
In India people use natural ingredients like Sugar and Lemon to prepare wax for hair removal. This technique is well known as sugaring and is getting popular due to the use of natural harmless ingredients. Sugar wax is gentle on skin and creates no skin complications.

Ingredients:
- A cup of sugar
- Sour lime
- Water
Preparation:
- Mix the sugar, water and lemon juice in a skillet or a sauce pan.
- Keep the container on a low flame after mixing.
- Keep stirring the mixture until the sugar solution melts and you have a thick brown liquid.
- When you see it foaming and becoming thicker, take it off the fire and let it cool.
- Hot sugar wax can burn your skin so dont rush to use it after it is prepared and it is still hot.

How to use the wax:
Smooth the wax on the skin in the direction of the hair growth with a flat blunt knife. Let it set. Then take a strip of cloth, press it well on the wax-covered skin and strip it off in the opposite direction of hair growth. If your hair is too short, then the wax won’t pull the hair out by the roots. Make sure that before waxing, your skin is absolutely dry. If necessary, dust it with talcum powder.
After waxing sponge off with warm water to which an antiseptic is added to prevent any infection or rash. Also, rub on cold cream or any other smoothing lotion or lavender oil. Few straggly hairs that remain can easily be plucked off or removed by threading.
